It was another successful event here in Dunedin FL. Everyone came out to celebrate Fat Tuesday to enjoy the parade and the street performers. It was a beautiful warm evening, warmer then usual, but it did not stop the festivities. Street vendors included local bites as well as larger chain merchants, Gipsys, fortune tellers, painters, sculptors, and musicians. Downtown was closed off from traffic allowing pedestrians and vendors enjoy the event safely. The parade began shortly after 7pm lead by Florida Auto Exchange. The floats from local businesses were impressive for such a quaint town. School percussion band, baton twirlers, and show girls from a performance agency also filled the parade route to entertain the crowds. Beads were flung off the bow of a pirate float onto the anxious crowds. Music and shouts filled the air along with the scent of the street food. Laughter, and good spirits energized the streets of downtown Dunedin. Family friendly, dog friendly, all ages came to join the fun before the fasting for lent. Plenty of parking was made …
Happy Halloween! Another Day Of The Dead event went without disappointment. Everywhere I pointed my camera there was a great costume to snap a picture of. The festivities began at 3 pm and continued on till 10 pm ending with a great street parade. The temperature was in our lower 80’s with clear skies. The day was perfect and the spirit of the celebration was high. The creativity of the local citizens was impressive to say the least. Wow! What a spectacular display of creativity and talent. We hope to see you again next year! Checkout the rest of the photos on our Home page.

We are just two weeks away from Casa Tina’s Annual Celebration of Day Of The Dead or “Dia De Los Muertos”. A Mexican tradition to pay homage to those whom have passed. A celebration typically taking three days beginning November 1st with food, drinks, parties and activities that the deceased enjoyed. In Latin tradition the dead is celebrated for the life they had and it would be considered an insult to mourn and express sadness. In Mexican folklore it is said that during Dia De Los Muertos the dead are awakened from their eternal sleep and join the celebrations with their loved ones. Streets decorated with calacas and calaveras(skeletons and skulls) and storefronts displaying the alters of the deceased. This is a most interesting and most colorful event of the year you sure wouldn’t want to miss. For more information for this event checkout our events calendar on our Agenda page. Day Of The Dead in Dunedin will be held on Saturday October 29th 2016.
While Hurricane Matthew threatened our east coast, those who ventured out to not miss the local festivities of this years Oktoberfest, the Dunedin Brewery still hosted their annual celebration with beer, sausage, and great live music. On Saturday night the featured outdoor band was the Joe Marcinek Band which when I briefly spoke with Joe he stated he was originally from Chicago. JMB music is funky, jazzy, and with a little rock-n-roll. I enjoyed discovering their compilations of old-school sounds with their original tracks. Made up of guest musicians, (Steve Molitz on keyboard, Freekbass on bass, drummer Pete Koopmans, and an unidentified saxophone player) Joe Marcinek Band gave us an evening filled with good vibes and electric sounds that made the crowd dance the night away. It’s Friday night and it’s been a long week and I’m in the mood to dine in. I fix myself an extra wet martini and decide to order delivery and its pizza time. My selection is Lat28 located off of Bayshore Blvd., Dunedin Fl. I order a 10″ pie with pepperoni, onions, green peppers, and black olives, with an order of garlic knots and chicken wings. Delicious! Boy, not sure if it’s in the water but the pizza and the knots are the best I’ve had in a long while. Last time I had good pizza pie was near Greenwich Village NYC. When I called to place my delivery order, I was greeted by a young fellow whom sounded under the influence of cannabis because I had to repeat the order often including my credit card info and he sounded like he belongs in the movie Fast Time At Ridgemont High. Don’t let that discourage you from checking out Lat28 it was kind of entertaining. My delivery was prompt and I was fully satisfied with …
