Mardi Gras 2017

It was another successful event here in Dunedin FL.  Everyone came out to celebrate Fat Tuesday to enjoy the parade and the street performers.  It was a beautiful warm evening, warmer then usual, but it did not stop the festivities.  Street vendors included local bites as well as larger chain merchants, Gipsys, fortune tellers, painters, sculptors, and musicians. Downtown was closed off from traffic allowing pedestrians and vendors enjoy the event safely.  The parade began shortly after 7pm lead by Florida Auto Exchange.  The floats from local businesses were impressive for such a quaint town.  School percussion band, baton twirlers, and show girls from a performance agency also filled the parade route to entertain the crowds.  Beads were flung off the bow of a pirate float onto the anxious crowds. Music and shouts filled the air along with the scent of the street food.  Laughter, and good spirits energized the streets of downtown Dunedin.  Family friendly, dog friendly, all ages came to join the fun before the fasting for lent.
